After a four month delay on the switch to digital television, we are a go. The fear of putting nearly 6 million Americans in the dark with their TV signals is now over. President Obama and Congress pushed off the switch to digital television to make sure Americans were prepared. They even put up $650 million for the switch which gave people government coupons to get converter boxes for their old TV sets.

Television stations have tested and tested to make sure the transition runs as smooth as possible without any downtime. If you aren’t prepared and your still milking that Analog TV with the bunny ears, then be prepared to see a blank screen and message saying they need to upgrade.

The switch to digital transition was always on the mind on TV stations and lawmakers but after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, everyone pushed to switch from analog broadcasts to digital in order to free up airwaves that could be used in emergency situations when all else communication falls down.

So, welcome to the Digital Age….finally.
