Bruno Gets Famous in the United States
By twilight • Jul 13th, 2009 • Category: Entertainment, Lead StorySacha Baron Cohen knocks another one out of the park with his latest “mockumentary” film, “Bruno.” The movie claimed the number 1 spot at the box office over the weekend and brought in over $30 million dollars according to Universal Pictures. It scored $4 million more than his previous film “Borat”.
“Bruno” is about a gay Austrian fashion model looking to get famous in the United States. Sacha Baron Cohen is very controversial always upsetting one or two groups when he puts out a movie. This time he seemed to piss off gay-rights groups with his act as the gay Austrian model.
The box office also saw “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs” bring in $28.5 million more as it came in at No. 2. “Transformers” slipped down to the No. 3 spot with $24 million over the weekend. So far the robot movie has brought in $339.2 million in North America.
