Facebook acquires content aggregator FriendFeed

There is some news from the company that you visit two hundred times a day. Facebook is now acquiring a content sharing service known as FriendFeed. It’s not the biggest acquisition since the company consist of 12 players, all of which will be senior engineers now at Facebook.

FriendFeed is a content aggregator in a nutshell. The four founders, Bret Taylor, Jim Norris, Paul Buchheit, and Sanjeev Singh were originally from Google. They are well-known for some of their work that brought up big products like Gmail and Google Maps. Anyways, FriendFeed is a connection to all your online accounts and is basically a portal that filters in anything from Tweets, Dugg stories, and even blog posts.

When asked about the big acquisition with social media giant Facebook, Paul Buchheit said their ” completely committed to supporting the users of FriendFeed. In the long term, we’ll have to figure out some plan that makes sense.”
